Well-written. I’m going to leave one food for thought idea: how a mother presents herself. And feels internally. She could 1) be apologetic 2) be assertive, friendly and try to connect 3) be aggressive.
I’m thinking the more the mother can try to connect with the caretakers, the more likely she is to succeed. Not that this is easy. And some caretakers will certainly be tougher than others.

Great post MiI! I am really enjoying reading your views on breastfeeding, they’re helping me solidify my own desire to breastfeed when I have children and giving me valuable information in the process.

I’m always sad when you post at Green Prophet because there isn’t nearly the cool discussion which goes down on the breastfeeding posts here at Mother in Israel.
So at what age do you reckon one needs to stop letting people know you’re breastfeeding in Israel, to avoid mother in law and other condemnation? :)

Thanks, Leora. I agree, aggressive is bad.
    Thanks, Anima.
Fern, do you have a second blog?
Katherine, sorry! I didn’t reprint the whole thing here because I don’t want the blog to be overwhelmingly about breastfeeding. Not everyone is interested. As for your question, I think it depends on the in-laws.
